Welcome to The Life We Live. We are a group of teenagers and adults in Gallup, New Mexico, a small town next to the Navajo Nation and the Pueblo of Zuni.

We are all about preventing and combating teen substance abuse. Our mission is to change lives.

Our purpose is to
provide an online
educational resource to
help prevent and reduce
substance abuse among
young people by informing you about the risks and consequences associated with alcohol abuse and drug abuse and offering you concepts of what you can accomplish in your life.
What Kids at Gallup High
Said About Our Site
"The lifewelive web-site has the possible potential to be a really helpful and interesting website."
"I would like to see more content than just links."
"Within the website there are links to other sites that show life stories of those who fell victim to drugs or alcohol. This is a good feature because it allows those who visit the site to learn of the consequences of abusing drugs and alcohol."
"Maybe add some statistics."
Our county has 23,556 youth under 18, with 50.8% of our children living in poverty compared to 20.4% for the United

States. Our crime rate is double the U.S. rate. A survey of substance abuse in our school system at 7th through 12th grade levels said that alcohol and marijuana are the drugs of choice for our youth.

Our state Department of Health gave us the highest score
of any county in our state for direct indicators of substance abuse.

FACT: Teens are more likely to use alcohol or other drugs if their parents or the community they live in tolerate underage drinking or drug abuse.
"I think people who use drugs and other stuff, they are not happy with their life. They do this because they think life is not fun, it's boring. They don't care about their future. They don't care about anybody. They are selfish. They don't think of how much their parents love them."
